Sedation Dentist

Sedation Dentistry allows a patient to relax before and during a dental appointment with the use of prescription medication. Using sedation dentistry, you do not have to let the anxiety of dental procedures prevent you from receiving the treatment that you need.

Common types of sedation dentistry include nitrous oxide or laughing gas, intravenous sedation or oral sedation. Dr. George Biron will go over the oral dentistry sedation options with you to find the best option for your procedure. Sedation dentistry is a safe and relaxing option where most patients do not remember the dental procedure.

Dental Anxiety

Sedation dentistry is the perfect solution for people who have dental anxiety. Many dental patients experience some ansiety when going to the dentist. This anxiety can range from being a little bit uncomfortable sitting in a dental chair, to doing whatever we can do avoid the dentist. This often results in poor dental hygiene and creates larger dental concerns down the road if left untreated

For your health and well being, it is vital that you visit our dental ofice regularly. Today’s sedation dentistry gives any patient the ability to avoid any discomfort and to relax throughout the dental appointment.

Sedation Benefits

  • Calm and Relaxing
  • Stress Free
  • No Discomfort
  • Sedation Options
    • When you choose conscious sedation for cosmetic dentistry, you will be given a small pill to take about an hour prior to your dental appointment. By the time you arrive at our dental practice you will be very drowsy. During your dental procedure you will be aware enough to respond to the dentist and ask questions about your treatment. It is important that a friend or family member drive you to your appointment and home, as the medication makes you drowsy, and it is not safe to drive.

During your appointment, your vital signs, including pulse, respiration and blood pressure, will be closely monitored. Dr. Biron will only sedate you enough to give you a stress free dental procedure. You will finish the appointment relaxed and a little tired, but will not have had ansiety during your procedure.

      Benefits of Sedation

One of the main benefits of sedation dentistry during cosmetic treatments is that dental procedures are more effective while your body is calm. If you experience any post procedure discomfort, it can be treated with over the counter medication such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

Conscious sedation is safe for most people, even for those with medical conditions such as heart disease, epilepsy or are at risk of stroke. Because the sedation takes a lot of the stress out of the dental treatment, it decreases the possibility of aggravating an existing medical condition. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Biron to discus sedation dentistry. It is a great option for many patients in need of a dental treatment and who have anxiety about going to the dentist.
